David Moyes and Robin van Persie hail England striker Wayne Rooney after 200th United goal

Robin van Persie hailed Wayne Rooney after the England striker chalked up his 200th goal for Manchester United on Tuesday night.
Rooney became only the fourth United player to reach the landmark figure with his brace in their 4-2 Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen.

He follows in the footsteps of Three Lions legend Sir Bobby Charlton, Jack Rowley and Denis Law who have all scored a double-century for the Old Trafford giants.

And Van Persie, who also netted in their victory over the German Bundesliga side, says he enjoys partnering the 27-year-old.

"He has a bit of everything," said Van Persie. "He can go up front, he can play in behind. He can play the short game and the longer game.

"I love to play alongside Wayne."

Meanwhile, United boss David Moyes was also singing the praises of the former Everton man, who added to his brace with an assist for Antonio Valencia late on.

"Wayne was great today," said Moyes. "I'm not a Manchester United historian but I think there are only four people to do it.

"I said he has a real chance to be one of the all-time leading goalscorers at this club and if he keeps playing like he did tonight he will get there. He was very, very good."

He added: "You'll talk about his goals but his pass for Antonio's goal as well and he could've made it 2-0 after rounding the goalkeeper and they come up the pitch and make it 1-1.

"I think he looks like he is moving as well as he has done.

"He is in a good place himself at the moment and obviously any centre-forward who is scoring goals feels good about himself."
