MIKEL OUT OF MANDELA CUP

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel will not play in Wednesday’s Nelson Mandela Challenge between Nigeria and South Africa due to an infection.

We gathered that the 26-year-old was expected to join the African champions in their match against the South Africans at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, the site where he played a big part in the 4-1 demolition of Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations last February.
Coach Stephen Keshi was quoted by KickOff: “Mikel has been withdrawn from the squad. He has a stomach bug.”
Which includes him in the list of Kenneth Omeruo and Emmanuel Emenike who had earlier withdrawn from the game.

The African Champions will be trying to avoid a defeat in the match today, in other not to be ranked outside the top 5teams on the continent ahead of the final qualifying rounds of the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
